About your host, Fiona Dudley, and my company – Weaversites.

I’m a sole proprietor providing SEO, PPC and related Internet Marketing services in Weaverville, NC (Near Asheville.) I’ve served clients locally and in many other states, with sites ranging from start-up size to comprehensive e-commerce, major local firms and regional geo-sites.

This blog is intended to be helpful to businesses with sites, as well as other Internet Marketing professionals.

Occasionally I’ll throw in a personal favorite in the Personal category.

I started out building sites back in 1995, with my first site – www.ashevillenatural.com. That site is a guide to the native wildflowers of the southern Appalachian Blue Ridge Mountains. It has since expanded with pages covering the 17-year cicadas that emerged en masse here in 2008, plus moths and other insects. I’m an amateur naturalist interested in everything that goes on right outside my door.

I’ve built many websites since I hung out my shingle in 1999, using SEO best practices all along the way. By the end of 2005 I realized that Internet Marketing was becoming a specialty unto itself, and that I was better at it that I ever was at design. So I stopped building new sites, and now specialize only in online marketing.

A note about how I named my blog. I have an almost infinite range of interests and a capacity for absorbing a whole lot of info. Eventually my husband nicknamed me “sponge”. So this blog is an effort to squeeze some of that information back out for the benefit of others.
